Ahmad Mallah’s art explores themes of war, diaspora, identity, gender, and the body. His artistic practice draws influence from his fluid identity as a Palestinian artist born and raised in Syria, and forced to flee the country by the war. Through an interdisciplinary body of works, Mallah reflects on the sense of belonging as a dilemma of our existence, a state of emotional and intellectual flux between our human desires for safety and freedom.

Growing up in Syria, the artist was brought up with the notion that ‘the walls have ears’. The feeling of being trapped between these ‘listening walls’ inspired him to start channeling his fears, sorrows and frustrations into his works, as a means of healing.
