Sam Samiee (1988) was born in Tehran, Iran and now lives and works in in Amsterdam, Berlin and Tehran. He graduated from Art University of Tehran in 2010, in 2013 he received his bachelor of Fine Art from ArtEZ Institute of the Arts and was a resident at Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten. He won the Royal Award for Modern Painting in 2016 and the Wolvecamp prize for Painting from the HeArtPool Foundation in 2018. His work has been shown in multiple galleries and museums such as ZK/U Zentrum für Kunst und Urbanistik in Berlin, Kunstmuseum The Hague and he made the book Footnotes to Life, which won the Best Dutch Book Design Award in 2020. Samiee participated in Unfair18.
