Jerrold Saija
Sometimes, a message flies over someone's head, or it crashes straight into misunderstanding. Signals that reach unimaginable distances may still go unanswered, much like the memories and histories that linger unacknowledged. In Saija's exploration of Melanesian Moluccan experiences, he seeks to capture these fleeting moments, acknowledging that it may never be too late to clear things up, or perhaps it is. Some moments pass, leaving behind words and stories that were never fully understood, just as the complexities of our shared experiences can fade into silence. Through his multimedia work, Saija weaves a fabric of personal and collective narratives, inviting us to tune in and reconnect with what has been overlooked. The imagination of what was and what could be is simultaneously a gentle, resilient, and playful resistance to colonial structures.
