Marcos Kueh - Unfair

PRICELIST UNFAIR24

Marcos Kueh has always been fascinated about his identity as Malaysian and his place in larger Western discourse. The artist explores how his country is perceived, from colonial descriptions in anthropological museums, to marketing texts in tourism advertisements, versus his lived experiences in Borneo. His practice safeguards contemporary legends onto textiles, just as the ancestors of Borneo did with their dreams and legends before the arrival of written alphabets from the West.
Through his work, he wants the public to reconsider how we fashion our reality through the visual and text messages we consume, and how it affects the way we perceive ourselves and others. Beyond all the bright colors and entertaining visuals, his works are a desperate call to see each other as human.
