Serana Angelista is a photographic artist and graphic designer whose work navigates the liminal space between Curaçao and the Netherlands. Serana views Curaçao as a phantom landscape—a place more accessible in memory than in reality. From a second generation Curaçaoan diaspora background, she investigates Afro-migration culture and its psychological influence. Visually she unravels cognitive processes with which she questions her dual nationality and gives autofictional expression to her own world of experience. Her autonomous practice is situated at the intersection of printmaking and photography. These disciplines unite through alternative print and collage techniques. By working with personal photography, text, and alternative printmaking, Serana explores the multiplicity of belonging.
