Noah van de Wetering
Noah van de Wetering approaches media such as photography, installation, and painting through the lens of printed matter, as an attempt to render the image physically. His work challenges the relationship between images and the world around us, confronting viewers with a material reality that functions as both a rhetorical and poetic agent within his artistic production.
The origins of the materials he uses are often diverse: earlier works rely heavily on self-generated imagery, while more recent projects reveal a growing interest in the snapshot as a site where artistic and documentary agency are negotiated. Another consistent element in his practice is the photographic darkroom as a creative site: one in which two dimensions of artistic production coexist simultaneously: technical knowledge of photographic processes and the magical experience of witnessing an image come to life.
