Antoine Peters
Antoine Peters transforms fabric into something that feels like a body, without it being truly there. He stretches and folds garments until they take on a human shape. Lifelike silicone hands, often modelled after loved ones, bring warmth and gesture, but faces remain absent, leaving viewers free to imagine themselves in the work. Here, two opposite forces exist side by side, each containing something of the other, inviting us to find balance between them.
Antoine Peters (1981) is a multidisciplinary visual artist whose practice evolved from fashion design into autonomous textile sculptures and installations. His work has been exhibited at institutions including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, Bonnefantenmuseum, Marres, Zeeuws Museum, OCAT Shanghai and the Museum of Modern Art New Orleans. Alongside his studio practice, Peters teaches at Design Academy Eindhoven, HKU University of the Arts Utrecht and Artemis Academy.
