Jinbin Chen Tianyi
Jinbin Chen Tianyi's works delve into the intersections of bodies, particularly those chance encounters that initially appear insignificant, but can possess the power to alter the trajectory of individuals' lives. His practice revolves around various themes connected to his personal experiences, such as gender temperament, homosexual desire, the abject, in-betweenness, identification, and differentiation.
Working across disciplines including painting, text, object, sculpture, and performance, painting remains at the core of his artistic work. Through portraiture and depictions of body parts, he constructs environments that envelop his male subjects, exploring themes of vulnerability, fragility, honesty, and comfort. These spaces aim to unveil an intimate language that goes beyond explicit sexuality, instead presenting Tianyi's own vocabulary of desire—a vernacular that absorbs the viewer's gaze.
