Initially, her practice consisted on meticulous portrayals of her own visage as a canvas of imperfections and intimate vulnerabilities. Each brushstroke became an act of introspection, a pilgrimage toward self-acceptance and authenticity. More recently, her works have shifted to transcend the confines of figuration, venturing into the ethereal realm of abstract expressionism, where the artist has discovered emancipation in the detachment from reality. Through her work, Fernanda offers viewers a glimpse into her spiritually inspired universe, prompting contemplation of life's deepest questions.

Marlou Fernanda (1996) is a self-taught visual artist currently based in Rotterdam. Of Brazilian and Curaçaoan heritage, Marlou’s creative journey began at the Grafisch Lyceum Rotterdam, but flourished in Curaçao, where she developed her distinctive style.
Her work has been exhibited at Kunsthal Rotterdam, OSCAM, MAMA Rotterdam, and others, and the artist has shown her performances at a number of locations, including Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and Foam. Fernanda has been featured in Dutch Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, The TittyMag, See All This, and many more.
