Nikki Vroom
Nikki Vroom's sculptural works unfold from a fascination with the shifting line between fact and fiction. She works with forms that feel visually similar, echoes of objects, structures or gestures we think we know, yet they resist easy recognition. This sense of near-recognition creates a space of uncertainty, where the viewer is invited to linger between the comfort of the known and the strangeness of the unfamiliar.
More recently, interaction and intimacy became central to her practice. By incorporating parts of her body into the work, she introduces a personal and vulnerable dimension. The body becomes both material and metaphor, a site where boundaries blur between artist and audience, object and subject, familiarity and strangeness. Currently she explores how a body in sculpture can oscillate between intimacy and estrangement, agency and risk, tenderness and provocation.
