Clémence Lollia Hilaire

Clémence Lollia Hilaire’s work explores the construction of identity and sense of belonging in the geographical and diasporic context of the French Caribbean. Through videos, sculptures, and audio works, Hilaire challenges essentialism and purity, seeking out moments of ontological slippage and category transgression. Her works construct narratives that bring together personal experiences and mythical or more-than-human figures. By exploring these liminal spaces, Hilaire creates a space for reflection on the complexities of identity, history, and culture.
