Luuk van Raamsdonk
Luuk van Raamsdonk’s practice explores themes of history, identity, trauma, and the relationship between humans and their environment. Through photography, moving images, and installation, he questions dominant narratives and brings attention to what is often overlooked, silenced, or erased.
Working primarily through long-term research-driven projects, he investigates cycles of absence, memory, and reconstruction. His practice is rooted in sustained engagement with places, people, and archives, allowing time for repetition and rereading. Archival material, both institutional and personal, plays a central role in his work, functioning not as fixed evidence but as something fragmentary and open to reinterpretation. His work combines the documentary qualities of photography with a conceptual and spatial approach. In this way, van Raamsdonk reflects on how personal stories connect to larger social and cultural contexts.
